Arriving and Shaping the Future at Micro-Hybrid

"My experience with international and interdisciplinary teams aligns perfectly with what is happening at Micro-Hybrid," says Julius Komma, who studied physics and earned his PhD in Jena. With a background in optics and system design, he plays a crucial role in further developing the strategy and product portfolio in the field of infrared components.

All-in-One IR Supplier: Comprehensive Components for Gas Analysis

Micro-Hybrid has evolved into a provider of versatile infrared technologies. Julius Komma is impressed: "The product range has expanded tremendously. Today, we offer various sensor types and emitters in different sizes, housings, and with specialized filters - tailored precisely for diverse applications and markets." This variety enables the development of customized solutions that meet the exact requirements of customers. He is particularly proud of Micro-Hybrid’s unique all-in-one solution: as the only manufacturer supplying both emitters and detectors for infrared gas sensing. This expertise allows for even better adaptation and continuous improvement of products for customers.

As the only manufacturer on the market, we supply both IR emitters and IR detectors for infrared gas sensing. This allows us to develop tailored solutions for a wide range of applications.

Our Strength: Customized Solutions

For Julius Komma, it is clear that flexibility and customer focus are core strengths of Micro-Hybrid. "The expectation is clear: we do everything to ensure that our product functions optimally in the customer’s application," he explains. The company offers numerous derivatives and customizations, including specially developed reflectors for infrared emitters that enhance system efficiency, as well as customized electrical circuits for detectors, precisely tailored to customer device requirements.

Partnerships Drive Progress in IR and MEMS Technologies

With branches in the USA and China, Micro-Hybrid is globally positioned - a dynamic environment that excites Julius Komma. Investments in consolidating emitter technologies at the U.S. site in Tucson, Arizona, or adapting to short development cycles and the demand for rapid support in China require flexibility and openness. At the same time, he values close regional collaboration with partners such as the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) in Jena and the CiS Research Institute for Microsensor Systems in Erfurt. "This balance between a global perspective and regional synergies strengthens us and paves the way for product improvements and developments," he says.

Quality and Control for Ultimate Precision

A key aspect of Micro-Hybrid is its control over design and production, ensuring short development cycles and the highest quality. "Our decades of packaging expertise are what turn MEMS chips like emitters and detectors into finished products." Every component undergoes electrical and optical testing before leaving production. This commitment to quality is not only a hallmark but also a core promise to customers.

Our packaging expertise turns MEMS chips like emitters and detectors into high-tech products - this is the foundation of our technological advantage.

The Future of NDIR Sensors and IR Emitters

With a broad technology portfolio - from thermopile and pyroelectric detectors to various emitter types - Micro-Hybrid is well-equipped to respond to market developments. Julius Komma sees significant potential in gas sensing: "The demands in this field are constantly growing, and thanks to our continuously expanding product range, we can support these developments in the best possible way."

The company remains committed to innovation and strives to make a lasting impact with customized solutions - for both customers and the market as a whole.

What is Zero Calibration?

Zero calibration is a fundamental process that ensures sensors provide accurate readings. For NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) sensors, it is crucial for maintaining precision over time. The main goal is to confirm the sensor reports zero gas when no target gas is actually present.
