Our Next Generation CO₂ Sensor for Modern Incubators

The new MicroSENS CO₂ 0–20% C 180-HS-PFAS-free builds on the proven 180-HS platform and sets new standards for CO₂ measurement in incubators. With a more compact sensor head, significantly improved repeatability, and a PFAS-free design, it combines precision, ease of integration, and sustainability in a future-ready solution.

At Micro-Hybrid, innovation never stands still. Every sensor, module, and component represents years of expertise, testing, and continuous improvement. The company’s engineers and scientists are never content with simply meeting performance expectations – they aim to exceed them with every generation. Each design iteration is an opportunity to refine materials, optimize electronics, and enhance measurement stability, ensuring that every new model delivers measurable progress over the last.

This philosophy drives Micro-Hybrid to constantly challenge the limits of NDIR gas sensing and to pioneer solutions that balance high precision with long-term sustainability. From thermal design and optical calibration to mechanical integration, every detail is re-evaluated and re-engineered to achieve higher performance, greater reliability, and better environmental compatibility.

The result is a portfolio of sensor technology that continues to evolve in step with the world’s changing technical and ecological demands. The new MicroSENS CO₂ 0-20% C 180-HS-PFAS-free embodies this spirit of advancement – not just as an improved version of a proven product, but as the next step in a continuous journey of innovation.

Micro-Hybrid’s new MicroSENS 180-HS PFAS free 0-20% | CO2 measurement in incubators sensor marks a significant evolution of the proven MicroSENS 180-HS 0-20% CO₂. Built on the same reliable NDIR dual-beam foundation, this next-generation model combines enhanced mechanical design, superior measurement stability, and a fully PFAS-free materials concept that aligns with global sustainability and compliance objectives.

CO₂ Incubator sensor line

The original MicroSENS 180-HS 0-20% CO₂ established itself as a benchmark in CO₂ measurement for incubators across medical diagnostics, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical applications. Its long service life, low drift, and ability to endure thousands of 180 °C sterilization cycles made it synonymous with reliability and precision.

The new PFAS-free variant builds directly on this legacy while redefining performance standards. It delivers higher repeatability, improved robustness, and greater environmental resistance. All this comes in a shorter, more compact sensor design that supports modern equipment constraints and sustainability goals.

Key differences and technical upgrades

Gas sensor: MicroSENS 180-HS 0-20%
MicroSENS 180-HS 0-20%
Gassensor: MicroSENS 180-HS PFAS free 0-20%
MicroSENS 180-HS PFAS free 0-20%

Sustainability meets measurement performance

At the core of this upgrade is a shift to PFAS-free materials, with no intentionally added PFAS in any gas-exposed or wetted component. This change allows laboratories and OEMs to comply effortlessly with upcoming PFAS restrictions while maintaining Micro-Hybrid’s established performance standards. The stainless steel sensor head enhances both corrosion resistance and mechanical durability, while the sintered metal filter and soft silicone cable replace the previous PTFE-based elements, without compromising precision.

The new design also introduces a significantly shorter 43.5 mm sensor head, nearly half the length of the previous generation, allowing for easier integration in compact or multi-chamber incubators. Despite its reduced size, the sensor achieves a tenfold improvement in repeatability, down to < 0.005 % FS. This leap in stability is made possible through refined electronics and firmware that deliver an exceptionally low noise-to-signal ratio and consistent, reliable readings throughout the 0-20% CO₂ range.

Environmental protection and operating flexibility have also been expanded. With an IP44 rating, the PFAS-free model resists splashes and condensation from any direction, protecting it in humid incubator environments. The down to 500 hPa enables operation at altitudes up to approximately 4500 meters, broadening its suitability for global use in diverse laboratory and production settings.

Seamless mechanical and electrical compatibility ensures that the new sensor can replace the existing 180-HS model without any redesign of feed-throughs or system interfaces. This integration-friendly approach provides a straightforward upgrade path for current MicroSENS users, maintaining the benefits of the family’s established form factor while adding new layers of performance and sustainability.
