Why NDIRsim?

NDIRsim is ideal for development engineers and OEM teams in medical, industrial, environmental, and aerospace applications who need precise and robust measurement of infrared-active gases.

Plan measurement accuracy with confidence

calculate spectral absorption as a function of path length based on the Beer–Lambert law under freely selectable gas, pressure, and temperature conditions.

Optimize your filter design

compare filter configurations (CWL, HBW, transmission) for your selected gas.

Reduce time-to-result

virtual experiments eliminate lengthy lab iteration loops.

Perfect for Micro-Hybrid setups

includes a library of pre-defined IR filters from the Micro-Hybrid portfolio.

Shop integration

easily order stocked NDIR components directly from the shop.

Three simple steps in the NDIR simulator

1 . Define the gas & conditions

Choose a gas, temperature, and pressure, then set the spectral range and resolution (sampling points). The software automatically converts wavenumber (cm⁻¹) and wavelength (nm/µm), pulls data from the industry-standard HITRAN spectral line database, and displays the spectral absorption coefficients across your selected range.

2 . Match filter properties to your gas

Select or design an optical filter with CWL, HBW, and Tmax. NDIRsim overlays the filter curve directly onto the line spectrum. You’ll immediately see how well the filter aligns with your gas absorption band. Choose from available Micro-Hybrid filters or upload your own transmission curves.

3 . Simulate path length and concentration

Define optical path length and concentration range. NDIRsim generates characteristic curves of absorption (in %) across the selected range, provides a visual basis for choosing calibration points, and displays exact calculated values when hovering over the curve.

Real Scientific-Level Simulation

NDIRsim is built on a physical model based on the Beer–Lambert law, combined with instrumental parameters such as filter bandwidth and optical path. The software supports freely selectable temperature and pressure scenarios, allowing realistic simulation of diverse environmental conditions.

Calculations rely on the globally established HITRAN reference database, computing spectral line shapes for your selected range. Automatic conversion between wavenumber (cm⁻¹) and wavelength (nm/µm) ensures consistent, comparable results.

Accuracy Note: Simulations do not replace final calibration in the target device. NDIRsim provides robust design guidelines and variant comparability.

Some specifications may require custom manufacturing. Technical feasibility is evaluated case by case.

Frequently asked questions

What data does NDIRsim use?

Industry-standard spectroscopic reference data from the HITRAN database for line calculations.

Can I simulate my own filters?

Yes — define CWL/CWN, FWHM, and Tmax yourself. Pre-configured Micro-Hybrid filter values are also available.

Does NDIRsim support temperature/pressure effects?

Yes. Line width and line position are recalculated based on selected conditions.

How close is this to real-world performance?

Ideal for concept and pre-series design. Certain boundary effects (mechanical, electrical, additional optical) are not modeled. It does not replace a physical setup but enables theoretical comparison of variants.

Which browsers and IT requirements apply?

Any up-to-date browser; no admin rights required.
